Handbag thief caught by police

Indeed, the capture of one crook who had a history of criminal activity and theft shows the significance of this issue. Kirk Lawrence was identified as the thief of bags that were taken from women in supermarket car parks in Redcar and Middlesbrough, before speeding off on his motorbike, the Evening Gazette reports.

The 33-year-old was apprehended by police after witnesses rang in connection with an incident. An officer caught him following a chase on foot.

Recently, Mr Lawrence appeared at Teesside Crown Court. He was jailed for three years after pleading guilty to two robberies and refusing to give a sample on suspicion of driving under substance abuse.

Defending him, Brian Russell remarked: "He says that for the first time he has been in prison, he has been more concerned about the impact these offences have had on these ladies."

Keeping a tight hold on leather handbags, shoulder handbags and other such items when in public is important, particularly when consumers are manoeuvring through crowded areas where pickpockets may be operating.
