There are well documented and reported cases concerning workplace health and safety that seem like political correctness taken to its outrageous extremes. They do sound 'jobsworthy' and ridiculous, sometimes detracting from just how important appropriate health and safety measure are to businesses of all sizes, from the very smallest upwards. Litigious cultures exist within companies and organisations no less than they do in the realms of public liability. When approaching this particular field, business owners and their human resources representatives should clearly understand that it is essential to not only the health and safety of the people they employ. It is also part and parcel of the health and safety of their businesses.

Costly claims can and do arise due to workplace accidents that might appear irrelevant, unintentional and even marginal. Should an employee suffer an injury due to a trip or fall over an unconcealed and trailing wire in an office, there are numerous claims specialists only too ready to offer their services on a no win no fee basis. Trite it might sound, but the fact of the matter is that health and safety legislation exists to ensure that what it says on the tin is implemented in real terms within workplaces.
