In
a technologically advancing society where information on the future
of television is swamping the market, one of the largest
telecommunications services, BT, offers a simplicity which is
unparalleled where the future of digital television is concerned.
Simplicity
was the key principle behind the development of BT Vision. Taking
into account the needs of the public in its design, BT have taken
their philosophy of connectivity, already encapsulated in their
telecommunications and broadband services, into the realm of the
televised, by connecting together the formerly independent elements
of watching television, recording television, and accessing on demand
services in order to create their latest innovation BT Vision V+ as
part of BT
Vision HD.
BT
Vision is available now, to customers who are already signed up to BT
as a provider of their broadband, for as little as £17 a month, with
that price being set at £4 for the first 4 months. Unlike, other
providers, who rely on cable, or satellite for the signal, BT simply
draw off your existing BT broadband, meaning no additional work needs
to be done to make your home ready for BT Vision.
Variety,
Convenience, Accessibility: these three words encapsulated the nature
of the original BT Vision and have been carried through into
Vision+. Firstly, the variety of BT
Vision channels,
with up to 50 channels, and 20 radio stations offered by Freeview, as
a standard feature gives BT users unrestricted access to some of the
best television around. However this television, like all television,
has a schedule, which when difficult to adhere to brings up the
necessity for convenience. There are already the on-demand services
offered by ITV, Channel 4, BBC, and Channel 5, but they are not
readily available through Freeview, so where is convenience to be
found?
Once
again, BT have picked up on this need and made it a necessity for
these on-demand services to be included in the BT Vision Channels,
including BBC iPlayer. Even with this additional convenience however,
we are still talking in terms of watching one programme at a time. As
the name suggests, BT Vision is about seeing everything, and they
have done their best to make that a possibility. Recording, pausing,
rewinding live television, all possible at the push of a button,
making television far more accessible than it ever has been. Why not
even record two shows and watch one, with 80 hours of recording space
on a BT Vision + box, there is certainly space for it!
However, what good is
all of this, is you cannot see half of what you choose to watch. The
enjoyment in watching something comes from the quality of the
programme, making the experience that more powerful, and that is
where the words High Definition come into play. BT Vision HD, is an
integral part of the new BT Vision V+ box, which is HD ready, up to
1080i resolution.
All of this power is
combined in one small box, which itself, is absolutely free.
