Simply put currency trading is, as you would expect, buying and selling currencies.  The idea is that you buy a currency for one price then sell it at a later time for a higher price and take the profit.  It is one of the biggest financial markets in the world. Every day over two trillion US dollars worth of currencies are traded.  In New York alone $50,000,000,000 is traded every day.

Sometimes you will see currency trading referred to as Forex trading or FX trading.

Who Can Do Currency Trading?

Anyone who is old enough, and has enough money can trade in currencies.  However, it is not something you can do without a little bit of research and some training.  As with all kinds of trading currency trading has some risks you can lose money as well as make money and your capital is not protected.  This means that unless you have money than you can spare or bear to lose you should not be considering currency trading. If you are happy and able to take the risk you can make a lot of money trading currency. Now that the currency trading market is open to small investors it is well worth looking into getting involved.

Getting Started With Currency Trading

The first step to getting started with currency trading is to read up a little bit on the subject.  Articles like this are helpful as are the Wikipedia articles on the subject and information from brokerage sites.  On many brokerage sites that deal with Forex or currency trading you can find training as well designed to take you from a novice to a successful trader.

The best currency trading training lets you complete a step by step course and test your understanding as you go through that course.  Once you have completed the course you have the opportunity to trade on a simulator.  This means that you are not trading with real money. Running through the simulator tests whether you are experienced enough to begin taking the risk of trading with real money. It is an excellent way to learn.
