Collection of handbags goes up for auction

These days, the range of leather handbags, shoulder handbags and other such items available for consumers to buy is immense. Regardless of the style of offering people want and the budgets they have to work with, individuals generally find it easy to get the perfect items for them.

One woman with a particular penchant for such goods recently put the fashion items up for auction. The lady was not named, but according to a BBC News report, she had 30 handbags and some of them were worth as much as £6,000.

The reason she had to sell her collection was because she had been made bankrupt.

As well as handbags, a range of purses, wallets and jewellery went under the hammer and there was international interest concerning some of the items. Indeed, consumers with enough money to spare and an interest in leather handbags, shoulder handbags and so on may have seen the sale as a great opportunity to pick up fantastic new items.

The bags were created by a range of designers, including Hermes, Lana Marks and Louis Vuitton and before the auction got underway, experts predicted that the products would sell for a total of more than £250,000.

Commenting on the collection, Craig Bewick from Brown and Co said: "Probably the best item of the lot is the Hermes Birkin Bag for which we've had interest from all over the world." He added: "To me it's a bit strange, but I have a girlfriend who is into all this kind of stuff."

It is thought that the woman whose possessions went on sale had amassed a collection of designer jewellery and handbags worth around £1 million.

Of course, most women do not spend anything like this amount on such products. However, many consumers do like to have a range of bags and other such things at home to choose from.
