Five Step Guide For Writing TOK Essay

TOK essays which theory of knowledge essay are every year prescribed by the IB (The International Baccalaureate) where the students are required to choose one essay topic out of ten titles. The sole purpose of this essay contest is to build the knowledge of the students; this is why students are also recommended to participate in the discussions so that they can build their confidence.  Following is a brief guideline for writing TOKessays.

First step:

Read the TOK essays question carefully:

Second step:

Read the marks criteria:

Read how will you get the marks, what is the grading criteria for TOK essays for example; how should be content of the essay and the word count? This is how you would be able to understand where you should concentrate more. The next thing would be to plan your TOK essay, planning would consist of an outline and reasons in order to support the title.

Third step:

Properly structure essay:

You must have read in the TOK essay guideline that you can only write up to 1600 words, so keeping in mind the word count you can structure the TOK essay where each paragraph should be interrelated with each other.  Structuring essay would also depend on the outline that you created in the last step so first make sure the outline is properly written and structure your TOK essay.

Fourth step:

Proofread essay carefully:

Once you are done with the theory of knowledge essay, it’s time to proofread the TOK essay.Check for all the grammatical or punctuation mistakes in the essay correct them and read it again and again to make sure that there is no flaw left in the TOK essay.

Fifth Step:

Final submission:

Now, you are don’t with every step, its time to finally submit the TOK essay but before that you should again read the guideline to make sure you have written according to it. See, if you are asked to submit the essay in a particular format or not, if yes then do according to it otherwise you can use any format. Furthermore, it is important that you keep the font size up to 12 if you want to get good marks in the TOK essay exams.
