Today
we have a more competitive, far more crowded business environment. There are more companies than ever are
looking for ways to improve their business, so where do they look? The answer
to that question is not as complex as it may seem because the first area that
more senior supervisors want to improve in their operations is in project
management. Even so, once they have targeted project managers, the next problem
they face is how to bring about some type of improvement. In other words they
want to increase efficiency.
The
answer for the company may come in the form of the Prince2 training program; an
advanced system that has been proven time and again to produce direct results
is by increasing the skill level of project managers and by giving them precise
guidelines to follow, while also teaching them a new workplace project oriented
language to use for communicating whilst working on projects.
One
all too common problem in companies, is that their project managers and the
employees who work under them are viewing their work assignments as a whole; viewing
them in their entirety. It's a common enough shortcoming in a lot of businesses
today.
Prince2
can be the solution by showing your managers how to see and then approach their
work assignments not as a whole, but rather as a series of incremental projects
that combine to create the whole. You see, one of the key elements of the
Prince2 system is the project board. The scheduling board is mounted on a wall
and then used to track work assignment progress from beginning to end. The
board also gives all members of the work team ready access to information
regarding the progress of any given project that's posted on it. It's simple,
straightforward, and proven to improve productivity and efficiency.
Your
managers will also come away from this training program with improved risk
management skills. Skills that will allow them to recognize risk then be able
to categorize it in such a way that it can be managed most efficiently. They
will also be given a set of tools to recognize and know the difference between
risk levels that aren’t unacceptable, and risk levels that are acceptable which
they can then manage.
Even
so, no matter how many tools and how much knowledge your managers comes away
with from the Prince2 training program, unless they have enhanced leadership
skills the tools are all for nothing. A manager simply must be a good leader if
they're going to have employee members working under them. So a key part of
this proven training program is dedicated to improving leadership skills and by
identifying their areas of weaknesses and then focusing on them.
Then
as stated above, part of the Prince2 training program involves learning a
specific language of project management. Words and phrases that managers and
team members can use to communicate specific aspects of the project to each
other as it unfolds. Go check for yourself to see how production team members
in your company are communicating and you'll probably find that they've developed
some type of ad hoc system to communicate with.
Prince2
to has taken this concept of language used by project management to the highest
level possible, and by doing so it has enabled project managers and their
subordinates around the globe to function more efficiently in the work place.
