All
know that a CV plays a vital role in job seeking process. Hence, it is
necessary to compile a perfect CV to get the job you desire. Researchers
have found that one third of the employers read only the covering
letter and do the initial selection of candidates. One third of
employers do this by only screening the first half pages of CVs. Only
one third read entire CV and makes the decision for further research.
These indicators show that if someone fails to communicate his or her
value through the covering letter and the first half of the CV, the
probability of rejection is high. Some may not have clear idea to do it.
Here are some tips.
Study the employer and his needs – Carefully read the vacancy advertisement and try to understand the key requirements of the potential employer.
Match your qualifications with the job requirement -
Check whether you have the required qualifications they ask. Do you
have capabilities? Are they fit with the job? If you do not have at
least few qualifications, you can still apply for the position, but the
chance of getting the job is minimal.
Focus your qualifications –
If you have necessary skills and qualifications, they should be
highlighted in your CV. Avoid adding irrelevant qualifications and
working experiences. Adding one relevant qualification is worthwhile
than adding hundred irrelevant qualifications.
Communicate your employment value to the employer -
This can be done by adding a personal statement at the beginning of the
CV. When adding a personalized statement, do not talk about personal
targets and goal you are going to achieve. Talk something that you can
give to the organization.
Adding
targeted contents to the covering letter as well as to the first
section of the CV will gain good results. Hence, always customize the CV
according to the job vacancy. Avoid generalization. Employer should
feel that the CV has been created to the application they have called,
and not to send for more similar vacancies.
