We love wood boilers for their cost effectiveness. They warm our bedrooms, kitchens, living rooms and almost all parts of the house without escalating electricity bills. But the work behind inserting the big, heavy logs every other day might put people off, especially those with back pains or other physical limitations. But there is a way of easing this trouble.
We love wood boilers for their cost effectiveness. They warm
our bedrooms, kitchens, living rooms and almost all parts of the house without
escalating electricity bills. But the work behind inserting the big, heavy logs
every other day might put people off, especially those with back pains or other
physical limitations. But there is a way of easing this trouble.
The larger an outdoor wood boiler is, the easier it becomes
for you to handle it.
Firstly, it can contain larger logs. So you or your supplier of
logs can save the energy and time chopping the logs down to a zillion pieces.
For example Canada’s LogBurner can contain
logs of up to 12 feet in size.
Secondly, the fuel will last much longer. Smaller boilers may
require you to replenish wood stock several times a day. The largest outdoor
wood boiler requires you to do this only twice or thrice a month, depending
upon usage. Your usage is determined by the weather and the type of fuel being
used. Certain types of wood last longer than others. You may also use other
substances for fuel such as wood chips, brush, wood byproducts and pelletized
wood. Boilers of larger sizes lengthen the fuel replenishment cycle. This
liberates you of the constant worry that you might have about the running out
of fuel.
Thirdly, larger boilers come with additional facilities. For
example, LogBurner’s outdoor wood burners come with digital equipment. You have a remote
control with which you can change the settings of the boiler while being within
the warm walls of your home. Who would want to step out in the bitter cold in
the middle of the night to adjust the boiler anyway? In fact, the world’s largest outdoor wood boiler, amazingly,
sends you emails! These large boilers
have digital appliances that can send emails, reminding you to replenish your
fuel stock when it is about to end.
Fourthly, larger boilers are
more durable. Due to heavier material used to build the body and more
sophisticated technology added, a boiler lasts longer with lesser maintenance.
This happens because the bigger an outdoor wood boiler, the higher the temperature
it can attain. And the higher the temperature, the easier it becomes for
secondary combustion to take place. This leads to lesser accumulation of soot
in the firebox and therefore less frequent cleaning.
