Stainless steel is used mainly for its durability and
resistance against rust. In addition, a well maintained object of this element
is considered as elegant especially when kept shiny and clean at all times.
However, no matter how much we care for our stuffs, accidents do happen and
they usually result to blemishing our things. Adhesives are commonly used to
stick stuffs that are essential for the function of the whole object. On many
cases though, they are also the common contributors of stains.
Getting rid of adhesive on stainless steel objects can be
quite easy if you have the right preparation, tools, and principles on how to
safely remove the blemishes without compromising the condition of the object.
In doing so, you can expect an object that looks like as if nothing happened or
got stuck to it. This article will show you how you can remove adhesives
correctly without causing any damage at all.
·
Check
– first of all, you need to know where the stains are located on the object
especially if it requires a bigger scope of work. This would also be the best
time to check what type of adhesive is on the steel object. You can also do
this while preparing for the things you will need for the task.
·
Heat –
depending on the size of the object, you can use various heating methods to get
rid of the adhesive. If the stainless steel stuff is smaller and can fit on
containers, you can heat adequate amount of water for soaking purposes. Let the
item sit for a while until the adhesive gradually melts down for easy peeling
or scrapping. Use a butter knife or an ideal tool for scraping purposes to
eliminate the blemish left by the product. For larger objects, you can use a
hot air gun or a hair blower. Make sure though that these are quality
equipments as you will be using them for a longer period of time.
·
Flour –
use a good amount of flour on the stainless steel surface. Do not broadcast the
baking material in case the area you need to work on is still wet. The purpose
of using flour is to get the adhesive off the metal object without leaving any
damages such as scratches on the surface. Repeat the process until you
eliminate all of the remaining blemishes of the adhesive. You can knead the
stain with the flour using both of your hands.
·
Scrape –
in case the adhesive is still stuck on the object after all of the three
previous steps, you need to scrape it clean off using a good tool. Scrapping
off the stain is quite effective especially if you are working on a smooth
surface as it will tend to peel off with the tool. However, scratching the item
is usually the problem faced by many individuals when it comes to cleaning
stuffs on such surfaces. Wash the metal after you are through with your work to
leave a satisfying job.
