Despite half the population going nuts for gizmos and gadgets, the residents of United Kingdom will be spending their Christmas without any! The worst part being that the neighbours across the Atlantic will have access to those what we missed here. Microsoft’s Zune media player, also known as the ‘iPod killer’ and the PS3 gaming console will skip UK this Christmas.
Microsoft’s much hyped ‘next generation’ media player, Zune, will not be launched in non-US markets. Now that’s mysterious since the hype that has been created around Zune as a potential threat to Apple iPod’s numero uno position will loose steam.

Apple is dictating this segment of market for long for but Microsoft was considered as a genuine threat to its supremacy but now this news has played the role of a dampener in the festive season. This coincides with the delay in Europe launch of PlayStation 3.

British love for gadgets can be gauged from the fact that over 60% of Brits spend £5,000 a year on gadgets and consumer technology, states a research by online tech vendor ‘Best of Stuff’ and the same survey stated that almost 44% UK resident own up to 15 gadgets each!

With both the tech biggies ditching their loyal buyers in the region, the backlash is imminent but two entities that won’t be complaining are Nintendo and Apple. Nintendo’s Wii gaming console will get a head start in Europe, whereas Apple will be able to fortify its current top spot.

The people although will miss the ‘novelty’ factor this Christmas, as they will have to settle for the mundane and there won’t be anything to spruce up their Christmas.
