For over three decades, particularly in schools throughout Britain the prevalent language taught has been French, and within the last ten or fifteen years German has become the second most popular language taught.

For many British people, learning French or German has been seen to hold little or no benefit beyond a qualification, as many never plan on visiting France or Germany for long enough to need to use these languages.

Practicality of qualifications is becoming a bigger part of the educational system and given the British peoples love affair with Spain, it has been seen to be far more beneficial to learn Spanish. There is no country on earth in which more British people visit than Spain, and there are around ten thousand Britons who permanently immigrate to Spain every year, so there are many benefits to wanting to learn Spanish as opposed to other languages.

For those whose schooldays were many moons ago it isn't too late you haven't missed the boat, there are other ways to learn Spanish. There are many personal tutors or courses available usually through open universities throughout Britain, or perhaps you wish to do things more on your own, there are many excellent books and tape learning courses available from such companies as Amazon which will be delivered to your door. Also available are many excellent websites which allow you to learn Spanish online with a combination of on-site guidance and physical products.

One of the most popular Spanish learning products on the market is the Rosetta Stone range. Usually, learning a second language can be a mechanical process which is uneasy and seems unbelievably difficult to say the least. Many have argued that it isn't the language which is difficult to learn, but the way in which it is taught. Language is best learned naturally, and the Rosetta Stone language products teach based on this theory and their own patented formula called 'Dynamic Immersion'.

Pronunciation is one of the biggest factors in learning a new language, as it is natural for people to pronounce words in their own accent and dialect, which in most cases can invalidate the language as many people in the past have learned, so it is integral you learn pronunciation from the start, and Rosetta Stone packages incorporate a speech recognition system which will rate your pronunciation of each word and phrase you learn so you learn Spanish the correct way straight away.
