Aspen is the largest city and county seat of Pitkin County, Colorado. Founded as a mining camp in the Colorado Silver Boom and named because of the abundance of aspen trees in the area, the city is now a ski resort and cultural center. But it offers as well some nice art galleries you should visit.

The museum is housed in an historic brick building on the scenic Rio Grande Trail, a short walk from downtown. Stimulating year-round programming includes art talks and gallery tours by prominent artists and curators, artist studio and private collection tours, the Distinguished Artist in Residence Program, educational workshops, member art trips to international art centers, and entertaining special events.

Another famous example is the Huntsman Gallery of Fine Arts. There you can see works from more than sixty artists.

A must is as well The Omnibus Gallery. This is one of the largest exhibitors of vintage posters and lithography, with most of the collection dating from the 1880s to the 1940s. Work from French favorite, Henri Toulouse-Latec, adorns the walls. You will also find pieces from the ever-popular Jules Cheret. It is a great place to wander about and explore the visual history of poster advertising. Collectors can easily spend thousands of dollars on one piece.
