The number of women business owners has increased rapidly in recent years and they are making a substantial impact on the workplace.

Appealing to women’s interests and wants online is much different than a man’s. When creating web sites for women, keep in mind that most women are looking for more than just information. They’re looking for the person behind the web site.

Establish Trust

Women want to know who the person is and if they can be trusted, while men are more concerned with the nuts and bolts of the site. Men are also happy pouring over large amounts of information. However, women prefer information to be quick and to the point. Many women are juggling family and careers so their time to scan tons of information is limited.

Don’t Sell, Give Them Information

Another important point to remember is that women do not like being sold to.
You have to connect with them. Information is not to be used simply as a tool to get them to buy something. Don’t abuse the trust they put in you and your products and services. They will buy if they are inspired by good, honest content.

Avoid Technical Jargon

The online world can be intimidating for some women small business owners, even though a lot are technically savvy. Avoid technical jargon on your web site. Keep your content clear and simple with easy to understand language.

Use Testimonials

Use testimonials on your site. Women really value credible information that can be backed up. Don’t just try to sell them your product or service, let them know how it can make their life easier and show them examples of other customers just like them who are satisfied.

Marketing specifically to women in small business is easy if you follow some simple advice. Honesty is the best policy. If you’re genuinely interested in making their lives better, let that show through in your content.
