Cystitis is inflammation of the bladder and women are worst affected even though it can affect both the sexes. There are different types of cystitis such as bacterial cystitis which is supposedly most common, the other one is the interstitial cystitis and is known to be difficult to diagnose which involve foreign organisms and hemorrhagic cystitis.

It is an infection which is caused by interstitial bacteria and is the most common reason for causing cystitis and is prevalent among women. As women have very short urethra (the tube through which the urine passes from the bladder). There are very less chances of the urine to be infected as it is very sterile and you would hardly find bacteria present. It is also known that in a women's lifetime there are 20 to 30 percent women who can get affected by cystitis.

It is very hard to detect the symptoms as the bacteria to be present in the bladder is caused when a person is unable to complete the urinating process is called as urine retention. A small drop which is left behind is enough to have the presence of bacteria and this can be the beginning of cystitis. This can be avoided by some simple and easy steps which includes your hygiene.

As interstitial cystitis is very difficult to understand there are some common symptoms which can be noticed in patients with cystitis. The frequency of urination increases by five times which may exceed 50 times or more in 24-hour period. There is chronic pelvic pain, uneasiness in your stomach, burning sensation during urination. With the increasing frequency there is also an increasing urgency to urinate which is mostly followed with stomach pain, pressure, spasm and bladder pain. Once detected get it treated by your physician. It may include controlling your diet and in severe cases surgery can also be a solution.
