The challenge is that a lot of of the abdominal strategies that are recommended all over the web, and in magazines, etc, are not always the most effective method to get that 6-pack abs look. Instead of using all your time on abdominal exercises to make your stomach firmer and more like a 6-pack, you will get rid of much more body fat by spending the majority of your training time with special combinations of high intensity full-body, multi-joint exercises. The most recommended work-outs for getting rid of that abdominal fat are the exercises that works the main portions of the body at once.

Work-outs that train the larger muscle groups of the legs, upper and lower back, and chest give you the largest metabolic return of investment in terms of ab fat loss. Combining these different types of big multi-joint work-outs in high intensity super-set, tri-set, or circuit fashion gives you the most effective fat-burning and metabolism boosting response from your workouts.

Now when we talk about abdominal-centered work outs, a common mistake several people make is mindlessly pumping away with hundreds of crunches and other meaningless abs work-outs that does not even give your abs much resistance to work with. If you want to start improve your abs to the best extent possible, don't waste you're exercising hours with exercises that you can do over 30 or 35 times... That only tells me that you are definitely not doing an exercise that gives your body enough resistance to the abdominals. Exercises that give you enough challange to get you down into the 6-15 rep range per set works great for the abs.
