Here are a couple of tips to protect and clean your diamond jewellery.

You need to make sure that you never store your diamonds with other diamond jewellery. This rule can seem to be strange but it is actually very important to do so as the diamonds may scratch each other or the chains or settings become tangled. Remember that diamonds are very tough but they can damage each other!

Don’t forget to remove your jewellery before doing different things if you don’t want to damage them.

You should never wear your diamond rings in bed as you could easily break them. You should also remove your jewellery when doing any manual work like DIY or gardening or even while doing sport as a hard blow could dislodge or chip them!

The same applies when you are bathing and showering as soap could cause a film that could dull the diamond. On top of that, you should never leave your ring or any other jewellery next to the sink when washing your hands as they can easily slip down the drain!

As well as being stored properly, diamond jewellery like diamond rings, diamond necklaces or any other needs to be cleaned from time to time to stay as beautiful and sparkling as when you bought it.

There are different methods to clean your diamond jewellery.

To clean your diamond jewellery, you can make a weak solution of warm water and mild detergent, like for example gentle washing up liquid. Gently brush the setting and stone with a soft toothbrush, then run under clean running water to remove the detergent. Repeat this process as often as you think necessary.  Finally, tap to remove excess water and dry with a soft clean cloth that is not prone to shedding lint in order not to damage your jewellery.

Another more professional method to use is with ultra sounds.

Dip your diamond jewellery in an ultra sound machine. This is a very high frequency vibrating reciprocal filled with a special cleansing fluid that will clean your item of jewellery. You will just need to follow the instructions.

These small machines can usually be bought at many high street jewellery outlets at a price of roughly £30. This method is not without risk as an already loose stone may be made looser still and drop off, so it is highly advised to let a professional do it as it will give better results.
