Brief info about UID Label

UID Label is mandatory, mainly if you aim to your items to be UID compliant. Only after correct UID labels on your items you can apply for UID registry. At the present moment, UID Label is used for all DoD’s identification requirements and serialization tracking programs (SNTs). Choosing the right UID label is critical for achieving UID compliance. The UID Labels, UID tags and UID nameplates you use should last long under hostile conditions and should not wear out.

To prepare UID labels there is a wide range of materials to select from such as polyester, aluminum, stainless steel or laser marked adhesive backed tape. However, the UID labels or plates must meet the MIL STD 130 code standards.

All companies seeking UID labels, UID nameplates, and Mil-Std 130M UID compliance can be described in three categories which are stated as follows:

Full Resource Medium-to-Large Size Companies – These companies generally have all the available resource to fully implement Mil-Std 130M compliant label and tag, UID verification and WAWF and UID registering processes. But, they still look out for a UID partner that can help them in suitably selecting the proper UID equipment or process for their operation.

Limited Resource Small-to-Medium Size Companies – These companies have a Mil-Std 130 requirement but can’t afford to purchase thermal transfer printers, CO2 laser etching equipment or UID label verification equipment and qualified staff to cater to the UID orders. Hence, they usually seek a reliable UID partner which can offer UID compliance labels, UID nameplates, verification reports and also a process to submit UID information to the WAWF and UID Registry.

Selective Resource Medium-to-Large Size Companies – Although these companies have sufficient resource to implement the essential equipment and processes for complete Mil-Std 130 UID compliance, they select to partner with a vendor that can suggest UID labels and UID nameplates including on-demand and verification reports in a timely manner
