Defective products can cause serious harm or death. There are different ways a product can be defective, including defective in its design and defective in its production, and this characteristic can impact your claim so it is important to seek counsel from an experienced attorney.

Defective products are found in every facet of life.  From toys made with lead paint, to improperly designed automobiles, and everything in between.  Some defective products are recalled before any harm can be done while other defective products cause serious injury and even death.

There are different ways a product can be defective.  Some products have a defective design meaning that the design itself is flawed and people can be injured or killed because of it.  Some of these products are even known to have defects but still make the market.  Businesses can anticipate a certain amount of damages to be awarded and make an economic decision as to whether or not to sell the defective products.  In these cases punitive damages may be awarded in order to stop the company and other companies from doing that again.

Another way products can be defective is in their manufacturing.  Errors in manufacturing can render a product defective and dangerous.  Loose parts, parts that can catch fire, or parts that can cause serious injury are all examples of defective products.  It is important to pay attention to product recalls for this very reason.

In the event you or someone in your family is injured because of a defective product, it is important to seek experienced legal counsel.  An experienced attorney will have the knowledge and experience to determine the best legal recourse and to distinguish between a product that is defective in design or in manufacture.  This is important because it may change who the defendants are in the claim.
