Maintaining your home and installing an energy-efficient boiler can allow people to make significant savings, one expert has advised.
According
to Friends of the Earth, a non-profit organisation which advises on a range of
environmental issues and campaigns for a global change in attitudes, believe
the current economic climate is no excuse for not going green.
In fact, spokeswoman Marie Reynolds said this week that the rising cost of fuel
can actually be combated by making your home more efficient.
"From switching off appliances and using energy saving light bulbs to
updating your home boiler
and insulating your loft, green measures can cut fuel bills considerably,"
she said.
A recent survey from the Energy Savings Trust revealed that 53 per cent of
homeowners said they would be willing to pay out more money to own a green
home.
It was also shown that 66 per cent said more guidance was needed from estate
agents on the issue when looking at potential property purchases.
