The kitchen is often the hub of a home, but
when a kitchen is too small it can become an awkward and uncomfortable space.
Follow some of these tips to make your small kitchen look bigger and become a
welcoming and easy to manage space.

  • Storage
is key. If you don’t already have enough storage space, then consider your
options and ensure that you have plenty of space to pack things away. This
way the kitchen looks clearer and less cluttered immediately.
  • Glass
fronted wall cabinets’ make the room feel larger already, but take care to
    keep your shelves tidy.
  • Lighting
is vital. A well lit space looks bigger so under counter lighting or use
light paints and colours when decorating.
  • Tall wall
cabinets create height, so install high cupboards, and utilise wall space
form storage. High shelves can be used to display pretty kitchen items or
    store seldom used objects.
  • Make the
most of your windows, allowing the garden to become part of the kitchen
and make the room feel much larger.
  • Taking
the doors off your cabinets, painting the shelves to match the kitchen,
and arranging your best dishes on them can make the room feel more open
    and modern.
  • Declutter
your kitchen and throw away the items you seldom use, or better yet,
donate them to a charity that will put them to good use.
  • If your
kitchen adjoins the dining or living room, consider breaking through the
wall between them as an open plan kitchen is a great addition to any
modern home. Ask a professional to check that the wall can in fact be
removed, and prepare for lots of building work.
