Paying bills can be pretty daunting for some people but
it’s amazing that it can be pretty too easy for financial experts. We all
experience a little bill chaos once in a while. Because the fact is, we are not
financial experts. So how does the experts do it? What is the magic formula in
handling household bills?
Paying and managing household bills, no matter how hard it may seem, should be
handled. There is no way out of it. As long as we try to live, there will
always be bills to pay for. The common household bills include mortgage,
telephone, electricity, water, and car loan. These bills are usually paid on a
monthly basis.
So how do you actually pay for and manage these household bills in such a way
that you free yourself from financial trouble and at the same time save money?
We all look up to financial experts for the answer. Well, most financial
experts would recommend the following measures to manage and pay for your
bills:
• Don’t wait for the due dates. Give
yourself at least a couple of days allowance. This way, if things get bad with
the day, you still have a day more to pay for the bill. For instance, your due
date is today and then there’s the storm. So you have to wait until the storm
is over before you can pay for your bill. This could mean delay in the payment
and of course, late payment charges.
• Be organised. Don’t leave the bills
scattered everywhere. There is always the chance that a bill may be lost and
you will not be able to know about it until such time that you receive a late
payment notice from whatever company it is from.
• When arranging bills, arrange it by
due date. This way, you will not miss any due date. You will know immediately
what bills need to be prioritised in terms of payment.
• When paying bills, don’t use your
credit card. If you do, you are just transferring your debt to another place.
• Always keep a record of all the
receipts. When are doing the payment online, keep a record of the payment
reference number. Receipts and payment reference numbers are important to
ensure that you have proof of payment.
So the magic formula in bill payment and bill management is simple: know what
and when to pay household bills. If you just use this magic formula, you will
not have to worry about your bills and more, you can actually save money.
