Why? Did you ever go to a dentist and ended up having to go thru a whole bunch of painful procedures? This is a reason why many people dread going to the dentist.

Personally I only have one bad experience from a dentist office which actually turned out not to be a disaster after all, thank goodness.

Growing up I went to the dentist on a regular basis, but after leaving home and having 3 children I did not find time to see a dentist for about 5 years. I knew I was in trouble even though I had been flossing and brushing my teeth every day.

Then at the age of 26 I was sitting in the "chair of doom" and waiting for my "sentence" after having had my x-rays taken. Fortunately he brought good news and not bad ones.

Today in my mid thirties I have yet to have had a cavity. Like the dentist told me, it is all because of early, detection, prevention and good mouth hygiene. These are the main things when it comes to avoiding a painful visit at
the dentist office.

In reality, if you go for regular check-ups at the dentist from a young age on, very seldom will you have to experience anything painful. If the dentist is able to catch a problem early on, only simple precautions might be necessary to control and eliminate the problem.

On the other hand, if you just let your mouth go and ignore regular check-ups any potential problems will not go away but rather get progressively worse. In the end you will have to go to the dentist anyway.

The difference now is that you are likely to have to pull a bunch of teeth,Get several fillings and it may end up costing you thousands of dollars. That is lot of money for something that could have taken you only half an hour to prevent, just is not worth it.

Get over your fear and go see a dentist. If money is an issue, there are programs that will save you money on these visits, but your teeth are definitely worth it.
