it’s all wedding planning from here on out...but who will be paying for the big
day? And in this economic climate – How?
You might be in a hurry to tie the knot,
but at least consider postponing the date by a few months, even a year. If you
are truly the perfect couple, then waiting a few months won’t matter, and you
will have more time to save and plan for your special moment.
If you are not willing or able to wait
another moment, then follow these five pieces of advice to help you cut down on
you expenses and make sure you have some cash left to start married life on the
right foot.
Keep
it simple
Keeping the decor simple will save on costs
and also provide the prefect background to showcase the happy couple. Wasting
money on intricate and disposable ornamentation which will be forgotten the
next day is not a good idea.
Double
up
Not an option which many are willing to go
for, but having a double wedding with
a close friend or relative is a great way to save money and enjoy the day.
The
reception
Your reception need not be a twelve course
sit down dinner in the fanciest hotel or venue in town. Saving on the venue and
the food will mean you have more to spend on the honeymoon and setting up home
together.
Save
and splurge
Saving money on some items, such as food,
means you can then splurge on others, such as the dress. Decide where your
priorities lie and budget accordingly.
Get
help
Ask friend and family for help. An aunt
might be experienced in baking and decorating wedding cakes or a friend might
know where to get cheap but pretty wedding dresses. Let people know what you
are looking for and you will be amazed at the amount of help and good advice
you will receive.
Keeping it simple will mean that you will
have more money to spend on the important things and before you know it you and
your partner will be buying a house, looking for home insurance and
planning the nursery together.
