A study was conducted in individuals who were of a median age of 46, whose carotid arteries were examined and these individuals were considered healthy though they were suffering from mild or moderate levels of periodontal disease.
There
is an interrelation of many diseases and everyone who is health conscious or
not must know that they need to listen to their clinicians very closely. We all know that our dentists stress on the
important that we should get ourselves checked on a regular basis but that is
what the cardiologists are saying too.
It sounds a little strange as to why the cardiologists are telling us to get
ourselves checked by the dentist on a regular basis. It is not that strange. The fact of the matter is there is a link of
heart diseases and dental diseases. Those
individuals who have dental issues can very much have a heart disease.
The researchers have found that if proper oral care is taken, this can prevent
atherosclerosis, heart disease as well as development of stroke. Many physicians believe that the process of
atherosclerosis, which is an inflammatory process, is caused by the periodontal
disease.
A study was conducted in individuals who were of a median age of 46, whose
carotid arteries were examined and these individuals were considered healthy
though they were suffering from mild or moderate levels of periodontal disease.
After treatment it was found that these individuals had a decrease in the
presence of bacteria in their mouth, as well as decrease in inflammation and
thickening that was present in the blood vessels, which is directly linked to
atherosclerotic disease.
