Maximize your iPod battery

Apple iPod Battery Tricks!!

For some of us, iPods are our daily companion. They provide us with entertainment in the subway, while exercising, or provide us with some music to shut out an otherwise noisy and distracting world. But like all electronic devices, our beloved pocket pal will only work as long as the battery will allow. But let me give you some advice or helpful hints so you can maximize your iPod’s ability to deliver the music and movies you love.

 • Keep the firmware up-to-date; Apple is constantly releasing new firmware and that will impact battery life.
 • Use the “Hold” function. You don’t want to bump into something and accidentally turn on your iPod when you aren’t even listening to it! Sure your backpack, pocket, purse, or whatever you’re carrying it in will love the music but that’s for YOUR ears!
 • Temperature, temperature, temperature. Nothing drains a battery like extreme cold or warmth. If you’re going snowboarding, keep your iPod near your body, not in the outer shell of your gear. Keeping your iPod at a constant temp, preferably near room temperature, will max out the juice the battery can deliver.
 • Turn off or reduce the backlighting. This sucks up a relatively large amount of power every time that screen lights up and changes.

And remember, your iPod’s battery charges 80% in an hour but getting that last 20% can take up to four so plan accordingly! Or you could always get a second iPod, like this FREE one and keep one plugged in and just alternate between the two. You’ll never be music-less because your iPod ran out of juice!
