According to a spokesman for Stuff.tv, a site which offers news and reviews
from the world of gadgets and gaming, the Nintendo Wii was one of the products
that had changed the landscape for the better.
Joe Minihane, online news editor at the site, said that Nintendo had broadened
the scope of the market with the Wii and its handheld DS system and that this
had filtered down to others in the sector.
"My grandma has a DS, my sister - who's never been into gaming - has a
Wii," he said.
"It's a real winner for everybody. The video game industry is bigger than
film now."
Figures published earlier this year by the TNS Technology marketing group, said
many parents believed games such as those available on the Nintendo Wii were
having a positive influence in the home.
