One of the best ways to remove the emotion from trading is to use an automated system that makes the buy and sell decisions for you. There are several systems on the market can do this for you. None are cheap to buy. I personally use a FOREX system that I paid nearly $5000 for. It was worth every penny as I can now trade nearly free of emotion. In addition, I pay over $50 per month for the data feed, this is typical of systems that directly automate trading and are run through your personal computer.
There are other ways to use this kind of trading system without the major investment in software. You can subscribe to a service which uses a computerized system to generate buy & sell alerts and then sends them to you instantly through emailor other electronic media. This way you still get the advantage of a powerful analytic program, but at much lower cost.
A system like this won't place the trades for you, you still have to do that yourself, but just doing what the system tells you, instead of watching charts & technical indicators all day sure take a lot of the stress out of trading.
Whatever automated system you choose, be sure it gives you the ability to step back and let the trade play out without you personally having to babysit it to the end, as this is what causes most of the emotional stress. Agonizing over each tick of the stock happens because you are too close to the trade. You will be much more relaxed when your software trades for you, or you only go to your computer when you receive a buy or sell signal. The rest of the time, you do what you want.
As a day stock trader, you have the freedom that others can only dream about. It takes discipline, but anyone can learn to do it. It can be a stressful or a relaxed way to earn a living - the choice is up to you. If you learn only one thing, it is that the best traders have all learned to trade without emotion - executing from a plan, and not being emotionally swayed but the action in the markets.
