Cats are some of the gentlest creatures and pets that you can have - but even they have their flaws. There are methods you can use that will keep your cat from biting you and other people.
Cats are usually counted to be one of the more quietest pets that you can have. But even a couple will behave instinctively and will feel the need to take their frustration out on somebody who was in the closest vicinity.

The more popular reason for cat biting is that they feel endangered or are particularly moody or reacting to distinct instincts. When they feel distressed or annoyed in anyway they will commonly respond by biting the individual close to them or the person who is pressing them. This irritating behaviour will come out when they are kittens and this is the easiest time to instruct them not to do this.

As kittens they learn to bite for fun. Utilising your hands to play with them and to let them to continue biting or even scratching you is what will encourage them to attack you as they develop. Instead of utilising your hands instruct them to play fight with a scratching post or plush toys.

Anytime they attempt to bite your hands tell them “no” firmly and if needed give them a precise light pop on the nose. If this isn’t getting through to them you can always use the water bottle and spray them with water.
When they are older they might bite someone out of malice or because they are fearful. I have watched a cat become frightened because somebody crept up on them. The cat sprung in the air and the claws instinctively came out and scratched the person’s foot. Whatever you do do not take this severely if they bite or scratch because of this. This is all in their instincts. Instead make sure they know that everything is fine and work to calm them down.

Numerous cats are more persistent then others and will not listen to hearing you say 'no' and may even enjoy the water you spray at them. When this happens it is time to take other tactics. You can try hissing at them or slamming your hand aloud on the floor next to them. Whatever you do never smack your cat. This is bad for any reason.

One of the more toughest forms of punishment to take is to snatch your cat by the scruff of the neck and keeping them near to the floor. However, this should never be utilised first and is only for the uncontrollable cats.

Using the correct techniques can help put a stop to cat biting in any form. Instructing your cat the correct way to conduct will serve to keep them happy and safe when you have children in the home.
