Mini Christmas lights are very unique and have some of the best styling for homes. These are very unique and work in a most unusual way.
There are hundreds of various kinds of light bulbs that we can use. A couple of these kinds of bulbs are for everyday utilization and will last for a few months before we must switch them out. While others are slightly more costly and simply employed for cosmetic uses. One of the more common types are the Christmas mini lights.

The mini lights were made during the 1970’s and since then they have become the more popular types of strand lights. They use a voltage of 2.5 and incandescent light bulbs. These look similar to the types that are employed in flashlights. Many of us will employ them during the holiday season - like Christmas - or for parties or marriage ceremonies.

One of the greatest things that made these so popular was their ability to brighten up a room with a tremendous glow and the way that they had the power to function. Many have marveled how something that is simply 2.5 volts has the power to work in an outlet that is 120 volts. The only way that they are able to work right is if they are joined in a series. If you have 48 bulbs with all of them emitting 2.5 volts then you have 120 volts plugged in at once.

Nevertheless many mini strand lights are made with a total of 50 bulbs. This enables them to function decently and to offer them a better opportunity to work even if one were to go out. However, at times the extra two do not work that way. This tells us why when one of the lights on the Christmas tree go out they all seem to stop functioning.

At any rate that is how it was when they were first made. One bulb would impact all and the whole thing and it would quit working. But now it has the ability to burn out and the others will still have the ability to function well without it. The only time each one will quit functioning is if it is taken out of its socket. It can do this through the use of a shunt wire.

The shunt wire is wound around two distinct posts that are within the bulb. This wire has been constructed with a coating that allows it to be tolerant till the filament is going to fail. When this takes place there will be heat emitted from it - which will cause a current to travel through the shunt. This in turn will remove the coating off and thus reduce the resistance that it at one time had.
