Medieval helmets were the most universal forms of armor that were used for a defensive coverage for the head in the battlefield as well as in tournaments.

In medieval period, helmets were considered as one of the most universal forms of armor offering a defensive covering for the head. They protected the face, head, neck from the cutting blows of spears, swords, arrows and other weapons that were used at that time.
