New laws for Indian investors may be a boon for U.S. Investors in Gold Exchange YTraded Funds

In December of 2005, Rydex listed the Euro Currency Trust (FXE) Exchange Traded Fund. This was the first Exchange Traded Fund that allowed investors to enter the currency markets through investing in Exchange Traded funds.

Until recently gold prices have been on a tear. After decades of going nowhere, gold has had a year of steadily rising prices, that is until two weeks ago.

On May 22nd a new metals based Exchange Traded Fund began trading on the Amex (GDX). The new Market Vectors - Gold Miners ETF was launched by the Van Eck Global firm and trades under the ticker symbol GDX.

In April 47,250 new and resale houses and condos were sold in the state of California. That's down from 54,500 in March which is a drop of 13.3%. April of 2005 was one of the strongest months for real estate in California's history. What a difference a year makes. Sales were down 21% from last April. Even though sales were down, prices were not.

Last week after much publicity and a long wait, the Barclay's Silver ETF (SLV) finally started trading. And it looks like the wait was worth it.

Home sales are dropping in Southern California. For the fourth month in a row, home sales have continued top drop, according to data for March.

For the month of June 53,700 homes and condos were sold statewide in California in June. The pace of resale’s has picked up a little from May and has increased 3.8% in one month. In the broad picture home sales have decreased 20.7% from the same period last year.
