In Hosea 14:7, the words of the Lord pronounced that men who walked in righteousness ". . .will grow like grain. They will blossom like grapevines. They will be famous as the wines from Lebanon." The Ancient Vineyards Five thousand years ago, Lebanon was already into wine making long before the Greeks and the Romans. For the ancient Lebanese people, wine was part of every meal and the highlight of every festive family event.

In the context of documents, workflow means moving the documents. Goods Delivery Notes accompany merchandise and come back to the seller duly acknowledged by the buyer; Invoices have to be sent to the buyers; Checks have to be sent to suppliers; Letters have to be sent to many persons and organizations; and so on. In addition to the external communications illustrated above, there are internal movements of documents. Attendance cards have to be sent to the payroll clerk; Pay sheets have to move to accounting and treasury departments; Memos have to move from person to person. Need for Workflow Control Unless the flow of documents is controlled through carefully developed policies and procedures, the result would be chaos. Goods Received Notes acknowledged by customers could be misplaced leading to disputes about invoices. Intended recipients of official memos might dispute ever having received the document. Employees might not get paid correctly or on time.

Anyone who is uses computers today will be familiar with Windows and Linux as operating systems. More and more consumers are gravitating to products that are personalized or can be customized for their individual tastes. They love the feeling that they are buying something unique that allows them to stand out in the crowd. The consumer research trend company, Trend Watching, has written about the shift to one-of-a-kind products. In a recent online newsletter, their editors write, “No longer do consumers want to be like the Joneses, the Mullers or the Li’s. When individuality rules and conformity is frowned upon, owning something no one else has is hot.” Applying this concept to the mass consumer market, Trend Watching goes on to write that buyers are looking to be masters of their own “Youniverse.”
